The Grates - Kings College

About 9 of us from the Mansions headed to Kings College to see the Grates, yes we came all the way to London to see a Brisvegas band. We have been trying to get tickets to bands like the Zutons and Raconteurs but we are always too slow and they sell out fast. We had a few snakies at the Temple Walkabout and then headed over.

The Grates put on a fantastic energenic show, the venue was pretty small as well so you could right up close.

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen and the largest occupied castle in the world. Its been a Royal home and fortress for over 900 years. Melissa and me went on a day trip last Sunday and it was we had a great time even though the weather was cold and wet. Once inside we walked around the State Apartments which are extensive suites of rooms at the heart of the palace. We were also lucky enough to see the Semi State rooms, which are some of the most splendid interiors in the castle and only open to visitors for part of the year. These rooms were furnished with treasures from the Royal Collection including paintings by Holbein, Rubens, Van Dyck and Lawrence, fine tapestries and porcelain, sculpture and armour.

Within the Castle complex there were many other attractions, including the Drawings Gallery, Queen Mary's dolls' house (Melissas favourite), and the fourteenth-century St. George's Chapel, the burial place of ten sovereigns and setting for many Royal weddings.

Redback Taven

Brendan, Corey, Melissa and me decided on a Saturday night Reddy session even though it was probably not the best idea. We got there about 10 and were there till they kicked everyone out at closing time. The live band was great and the dance floor was pumping, overall a good night and the best thing is its a short walk home.

Construction Party

Friday nights Construction Party got pretty messy, the worksite was littered with empty cans and bottles at the end of the night and most of the Mansions got involved.

Ben deserves a special mention for his late night walkabout in Gunnersbury Park. It was lucky he was wearing his high visability jacket so he could still be found even though he was under a pile of leaves.

Rugby World Cup 2007 Poll

I just bought tickets to the Wallabies Vs Wales in Cardiff on the 4th of November through The Fanatics who are an Aussie supporters group. I have been told to prepare my liver before this trip but I think its had enough training already this year. Anyway it gave me the idea for this next Poll. I will be heading over to France for a few games as well for the World Cup, I cant wait. I went to a few games in Brisbane for the Last one in 2003.

Camden Markets

Melissa, Brendan and me managed to crawl out of bed Sunday and head to the Camden Markets to see what everyone has been talking about.

Camden Town was a sea of entertainment. It was overflowing with a variety of colourful markets, shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, theatres and cinemas.

The town attracts enormous crowds of Londoners and there is always something happening. Multitudes of shops and restaurants spill out on to the busy Main Streets.

I bought a couple of tshirts, and Melissa bought a nice jumper in the tradional Essendon colours.

After the Markets we headed to the Redback again for some live music. Overall it was a huge action packed weekend.

Welcome to London Brendan!

Brendan arrived from Brisbane, Australia last week but left for Ocktoberfest before he could experiance a weekend at the Mansions. We showed him how to party on Saturday thats for sure, I think he passed out on the couch around 10pm while everyone else made it to the Red Back.
